The documents held include relevant files on subjects dealt with by the Department, along with service documents of its officials and other records required to be kept as directed in the Manual of Office Procedure. The department also keeps many old inscriptions of historical importance.

1. The functioning of the department is in accordance with the policies adopted by the state government from time to time.

The Department has its website http://www.archaeology.kerala.gov.in All important information of the various areas of its functioning, events, guidelines, etc., are available on the website. The website, in addition, contains details regarding the activities undertaken by the Department. The information presented on the website is periodically updated. It additionally has social media accounts, including Archaeology Department of Kerala/Facebook, Kerala Archaeology/Facebbook and Keralaarchaeology/Instagram. Activities and events by the Department are also available in these accounts.
(xv) The particulars of facilities available to citizens for obtaining information, including the working hours of a library or reading room, if maintained for public use:
Citizens can obtain information either from the website http://www.archaeology.kerala.gov.in, through any electronic media, or by personal visit to our directorate or museum offices within working hours on all working days.
We have a library working at Sreepadam Palace, Fort P.O., Thiruvananthapuram. Citizens can refer books there with permission from the officer in charge during office hours (10.15 a.m. to 5.15 p.m
