Right to Service Act

Services provided by the State Archaeology Department under Section 3 of the Kerala State Right to Service Act-2012:

1. Museum Visits

The museums of the Department of Archaeology are open to the general public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except on national public holidays). This will be charged a fee as fixed by the government from time to time. Museums will be closed on Monday.

The authority providing this service is the charge officer of the respective museums. The first appellate authority is the Office of the Finance Officer, Archaeology Department and the second appellate authority is the Director, Archaeology Department. The time limit for the disposal of appeals shall be 30 days.

2.    Permission will be given on applications for the shooting of documentary film, feature film and photography in museums under the Department of Archaeology. This permission shall be subject to such restrictions as may be prescribed by the Department. A fixed fee will be charged for this. 

In order to avail this service, an application must be submitted to the Director, Department of Archaeology, in the prescribed form, not less than three months in advance. Permission will be given keeping in mind the security system and the safety of monuments. The authority providing this service is the Director (Archaeology Department). The time limit for the disposal of the application is three months.

The first appellate authority will be the Joint Secretary/Additional Secretary (Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. Secretariat Thiruvananthapuram), and the second appellate authority will be the Secretary (Department of Cultural Affairs, Kerala). The time limit for the disposal of an appeal is 30 days.

3.    The director appointing vacancies shall report to the PSC in due course. The time limit for this service will be one month. The authority providing the service will be the Director (Archaeology Department).

The first appellate authority will be the Joint Secretary/Additional Secretary (Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. Secretariat Thiruvananthapuram) and the second appellate authority will be the Secretary (Department of Cultural Affairs, Kerala). The time limit for the disposal of appeals is 30 days.
