Museum Visits
- All the museums under the Department of Archaeology are open to the public (except on public holidays) from 09.00 AM to 05.00 PM. Visitors’ fee is subject to change.
- The museums will be closed on Mondays.
- The officer-in-charge of each museum is the provider of these services. The Finance Officer (Director’s Office, Dept. of Archaeology) hears the first appeal, and Director, Dept. of Archaeology, hears the second. The time limit to resolve an appeal is 30 days.
Registration of Archaeological Items
- The Department registers the archaeological items in possession of the general public. A request and the photograph of the item/items to be registered should be given to Charge Officer, Archaeological Museum, Sakthan Thampuran Palace, Thrissur. The Registering Officer is in charge of the process.

Time limit to resolve an appeal is also 30 days.
Documentary/Filming
- Permission to shoot documentaries and feature films in the museums under the Department of Archaeology is given based on a formal request and payment of charges. The permission is granted based on the regulations decided by the Department.
- To avail of this service, an application has to be submitted to the Director of the Department at least three months prior to the date of the shoot. Permission is granted taking into consideration the security and safety of the historical items or monuments.
- The provider of this facility is Director, Dept. of Archaeology. The time required to issue the permission is three months.
- Joint Secretary/Additional Secretary (Dept. of Culture, Govt Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram) hears the first appeal, and Secretary, Dept. of Culture, hears the second. The time limit to resolve an appeal is also 30 days.
