Triprangode Maha Siva Kshetram

Village: Tripangode

Taluk: Tirur

GPS Coordinates: 10° 85’ 57.1” N 75° 74’ 77.3” E

Notification Year: 2012

The Siva Temple at Triprangode is one of the early Mediaeval temples in Kerala. The inscription of the Cera ruler, Goda Ravi, found in this temple, is reliable evidence of its antiquity. Mention of this temple has also been found in the Kokilasandesa, a sandesakavya of the 15th century written by Uddanda Sastrikal. The huge apsidal ('Gajaprishta' shape) dwithalasrikovil faces the west and is of nirandhara-type. The garbhagriha has both upa-pita and adhishtana. There is a Namaskaramandapam in front of it. Outside the main door, on the northern side, there are four sub-shrines of Lord Siva and also a shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
