Notification Year: 1967

The rock-cut temple at Trikkur, which dates back to the 8th century, is dedicated to Lord Siva. Its garbhagriha and the dwarapalakas are facing north and the Sivalinga mounted on a rectangular lingapeeda faces east. The entire garbhagriha is carved out of a huge rock. In the eastern wall of the garbhagriha, there is an engraved figure of Lord Ganesha. The dwarapalakas and other deities are arranged in a peculiar way, unlike that of others of its kind. The namaskaramandapam with ornate granite pillars, agrasala, gopuram, nalambalam and thidappally were added to the structure in later periods.
