The Thrivikramangalam Temple, which dates back to 11th - 12th century C.E., is famous for its sculptural extravagance. The temple is situated at Thamalam on the bank of the river Karamana, in Aramada Village, Thiruvananthapuram. The principal deity is Mahavishnu, acclaimed as 'Thrivikrama'. The idol of Vishnu is about 6 feet in height. The sreekovil is three storey with a tiled roof. The structures above the granite adhishtana are made of a rare variety of stone. The sculptures carved on the balustrade are noteworthy. The dancing figures and the accompanying artists with percussion instruments like maram and thappu are worth mentioning. The mural paintings that once adorned the walls disappeared almost completely.
