Tholante Kattil

Village: Kuthanoor 2

Taluk: Alathur

GPS Coordinates: 10° 43’ 14.1” N 76° 29’ 58.0” E

Notification Year: 2003

The monument on the hillock at Kuthanoor, locally known as 'Tholante Kattil' is supposed to be a demi-dolmen of Megalithc Age. Cairn circles containing Megalithic pottery and corroded iron implements found at the vicinity of this monument ascertain this assumption. A huge cap stone measuring 3.5 m in length and 2.75 m in width and 0.30m in thickness is placed on stacked granite blocks instead of upright slabs or orthostats common for Dolmens. At present, this monument has been turned to a worshipping place.
