Thodeekkalam Siva Temple, Kannavam, a 16th century Siva temple, is of dwithalachathurasra vimana, with a copper sheet roof. The ornate walls of the garbhagriha (Sanctum Sanctorum) are decorated with mural paintings. The chief deity, Lord Siva, is facing the east. A granite Nandi is mounted on the square shaped namaskaramandapam. The protruding relief statues (sudhasilpa) represent various gods, goddesses and mural paintings adorn the walls. They are made out of wooden skeletons, white lime, clay, laterite powder, jaggery, sand and tree extracts. The pranala, the stone pipe used to drain lustral water, is long and carved at the tip. The Department scientifically conserved the mural paintings in 2003.
