The Sreepadam Palace, also known in the records as Sreepada Theerthakkara Kandukondedathu Koyikkal, is situated to the north of Sreepadmanabha Swamy Temple. This palace and the old nalukettu in the precinct have some divine status. SreePadmanabha, the tutelary deity of the Travancore Dynasty, is lying with his head to the south and his feet to the north. This palace is situated at his feet, hence the name Sreepadam Palace. The lustral water from the temple flows down to the pond inside the palace compound. The nalukettu is the oldest structure in the complex. The palace was built in the 19th century. Its architecture is a perfect blend of traditional Kerala style and Western style of architecture.
