Sree Vidyadhiraja Parama Bhattaraka Chattampi Swamikal was a great teacher and a well-known social reformer. Chattampi Swamikal, along with his contemporary, Sree Narayana Guru, strived to reform the heavily ritualistic and caste-ridden Hindu society of 19th-century Kerala. He authored numerous books on spirituality, language, and history. He passed away in 1924 at a small building in the compound of Govt. H.S. School, Manayil. The body was taken to Panmana Asramam and buried there. This building where his body was found is a single storey structure.
