The temple of Sree Karthyayani Devi Kuttamperoor, Mannar, is situated in a beautiful landscape facing east on the western bank of a river connecting Achancovilar with Pamba. The sanctum sanctorum is a circular ekatala vimana. The idol of the principal deity, "Sree Karthyayani" is said to be made up of a mixture of various materials, which is a rare one. The walls of the srikovil are embellished with intricately carved sculptures depicting mythological stories. The ceiling of the mukhamandapa and balikkalpura are also decorated with beautiful wooden sculptures. The ceiling of the balikkalppura bears exquisitely carved figures of ashtadikpalakas, the guardians of the eight directions.
