Siva Narayana Temple, Thirunayathode

Notification Year: 1996

The Sivanarayana Temple at Thirunayathode, Angamaly, dated to the 11th - 12th century C.E., is of vritha vimana. The temple complex is comprised of namaskaramandapam, valiyambalam, nalambalam, gopurams at the eastern and western entrances, agrasala (oottupura), two-storey devaswom malika and an old well. There is an old compound wall (maryada) built of laterite. The adhishtana and walls of the srikovil are made of granite stones. The walls are adorned with beautiful mural paintings. The dwarapalakas of this sandhara-type temple are seen on all four sides of the srikovil, carved out of stone.
