Pundareekapuram Vishnu Temple, Vadayar, Vaikom, is famous for its scintillating mural paintings. This temple is of chaturasra ekatala vimana with a copper sheet roof. It follows the Nirandhara type (without a circumambulatory passage inside). The principal deity Vishnu, with Satyabhama on the left lap, seated on Garuda, is facing the west. The square Ardhamandapa has beautiful wood carvings on the ceiling. Brightly coloured murals are executed on the lime-plastered granite wall of the garbhagriha. The murals on the walls are believed to belong to the late 17th century C.E.
