Pandavanpara

Village: Perumkadavila

Taluk: Neyyattinkara

GPS Coordinates: 8° 26’ 22.4” N 77 ° 07’ 11.6” E

Notification Year: 1987

The Pandavanpara rock shelters are situated between two huge rocks on a hillock at Perumkadavila village in Neyyattinkara Taluk. This shelter is too spacious to accommodate nearly fifty people. These weathered rocks are viable for deep engravings. This peculiar shelter has engravings on its walls, especially the lower portion at the entrance. The petroglyphs might be executed by using sharp stone tools like those in the engravings of the Edakkal cave in Wayanad. Decorative floral designs are engraved on the entrance wall. A few human figures in hunting posture with bows and arrows, sun symbols and geometrical patterns are depicted in the interior.
