Notification Year:

The Ochira Kalithattus (a wooden platform with roof) are located south and north of the Valiyakulangara temple entrance at Ochira, Kollam district. Historically, most such Kalithattus were built in temples and roadsides in Kerala during the 16th-18th centuries.
Such Kalithattus were used for holding temple-related consultations, for relaxation of pilgrims coming from faraway places, etc. The two Kalithattus at Valiyakulangara are built according to Kerala's unique architectural design, in a square shape with Suchisthambha.
