The Nityachelavu Bungalow, Rangavilasam Palace and Rangavilasam Palace Outhouse are three adjacent buildings located on the southern side of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Nityachelavu Bungalow is a 150-year-old building where the Travancore royal family used to maintain the accounts. The Rangavilasam Palace, where 'SreeUthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma Chithralayam' now functions, was built by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal. This two storey palace has aesthetically carved wooden doors, giant pillars, ornate ceilings, and tinted glass panels between the arches. The Rangavilasam Palace outhouse, situated in the same compound, is also a traditional structure.
