It is the venue for the annual ten-day Navarathri celebrations. During the Navarathri festival, the idol of Saraswathi, brought from the Padmanabhapuram Palace in Kanyakumari District, is worshipped traditionally in the Navarathri Mandapam. Special poojas and Vedic rites are conducted during the festival. The music concerts in the evenings at the Navarathri Mandapam in connection with the Navarathri festival have a unique heritage.
