Muthalakkulam Devi Temple is located near Mananchira in Kozhikode district. Historical records indicate that a temple existed on the north-east side of the old Kovilakam of Zamorin. Today, the reconstructed temple stands in the same location as in the records. The inscriptions on the granite slabs adjacent to the temple are in Tamil language and script. These are recorded in two parts. The oldest of these dates back to the 17th century. In many places, the inscriptions have been damaged by age. It records some of the donations and offerings made to this temple by officials of a Tamil company. Sculptures of two Dvarapalakas have also been found in damaged condition on the temple premises.
