The Mala Jew Synagogue and cemetery are located in Vatama village in Chalakkudy taluk of Thrissur district. It is built in the Kerala style of architecture, which is generally followed by Kerala synagogues. At present, the entrance is through the door on the south-east side. It leads to the worship room known as Asara. A prayer space for women called Ezrat Nashim is located on top of the chamber to the east of the Asara.
The construction materials are laterite, lime, wood, and tiles. The interior floor is tiled with clay tiles. The cemetery is on the roadside, from the synagogue to the east. Three marble gravestones with inscriptions in Hebrew exist here. They are on the eastern side of the tombs.
