Kollemcode House

Notification Year: 2006

The Kollemcode House was constructed by Raja Vasudeva Raja of the Kollemcode royal family for his daughter in 1904. This Kollemcode Rajavamsam, formerly known as Vengunad Swaroopam, ruled the region of Palakkad. They had the exclusive privilege of providing the Brahmins with sacrificial materials like Soma, Karingali, and Krishnajinam. The Sreemulam Chitrasala, started in 1938 and the Archaeological Museum, started in 1947, had been shifted to this building in 1976. Now this museum has been converted to the District Heritage Museum, Thrissur.
