Kizhthali Siva Temple

Notification Year: 1937

Kizhthali Siva Temple Methala, one of the eighteen Tali temples in Kerala dedicated to Lord Siva, is dated to the early 13th -14th centuries C.E. It is made out of fully dressed laterite stones and faces the east. This old sandhara-type temple, now in ruins, but originally it was a large temple complex occupying a wider area. The idol of Ganapathi and images of three deities in sitting posture are placed in front of the mukha mandapa, on the right of the sopana. All other sculptures obtained from the site are housed in the Archaeological Museum at Sakthan Thampuran Palace, Thrissur.
