Karunagappally Buddha is a Buddha image found in a pool belonging to the Pallikkal family of Maruthurkulangara near Karunagapally. Hence, this Buddha is also known as Pallikkal Puthar. Later, this Buddha was placed under a Bodhi tree by the roadside in Karunagapally and moved to Krishnapuram Palace, Kayamkulam, as part of the National Highway development.
This Buddha statue is believed to be from the 8th century C.E. Ushnisha and Uthariya are evident in this three-foot-tall Buddha sitting in a Yogasana posture. Currently, this Buddha image is placed in a Mandapam in the garden in front of the Krishnapuram Palace.
