Irunilamkode Temple

Notification Year: 1966

The Irunilamkode rock-cut temple, Mullurkara, dated to the 8th-9th century C.E., carved on one end of a huge rock, is dedicated to the deities, Vishnu and Siva. The chief deity, Dakshinamurthy, is carved out of the same rock in a sitting posture, holding akshamala, keyoora and khadaka on the upper hands. His left leg is placed over the other and the serpents are coiling around the body. The Linga is seen adjacent to the chief deity.
