The Iron Villa Park, now popularly known as Sree Chithira Thirunal Park, is situated to the south of Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple, inside the Fort Area. The Iron Villa Park got its name from an iron bungalow that stood at this place. The bungalow was demolished long ago. A statue of Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the last ruling maharaja of the princely state of Travancore, is installed in the park. Sree Chithira Thirunal is famous for his Temple Entry Proclamation. The statue, made of bronze, was built in Italy and brought to India before the Second World War.
