Ilayidathu Valiya Koyikkal Thampuran Palace is an over 450-year-old palace at Kottarakkara, Kollam. It was the seat of Ilayidathu Swaroopam, a branch of the Venad dynasty. It situates very near to the Ganapati Temple, Kottarakkara. Ilayidathu dynasty had six main palaces at Kottarakkara. Of these, the Valiya Thampuran Koyikkal was the palace where the elder Mooppumura King lived. Therefor it stood as the headquarters. Of these palaces, only the Valiya Koyikkal remains now. This palace is the birthplace of Rohini Thirunal Veerakerala Varman, the founder of the art system of Ramanatam. The Kottarakkara Thampuran Classical Art Museum is currently functioning here.
