Monuments protected by the Cochin Archaeology Department


The Archaeological Department of Cochin protected 32 monuments situated at various places in Thrissur District. The protected monuments are inside the Kodassery Forest Range, Parambikkulam Sub Range, Palappilly Sub Range, Kodasseri Echippara Beat, Kormala Beat, Thrissur Forest Range, Nenmara, Paravattani (East) and Machad Forest Range as per Notification No. G.P.R. Dis. 18942/1112 Dt. 30/10/1937. These monuments include megalithic burials, temples, idols and a fort. The list of monuments is given below:\

1. A Dolmen in Anapanthem

2. A Dolmen in Puthupara, Kothermuzhi

3. A Dolmen in the south of the tram line in Puthupara

4. One Muniyara with side rooms near Myldappan

5. An idol of Ganapathi at Elicode

6. A ruined temple dedicated to Vishnu in Bharathamala in Thrikkur beat

7. An idol of Siva in Bharathamala

8. A circular well in Bharathamala

9. Munipara -6 Muniyaras

10. Chendrayl -3 Muniyaras

11. Konnamkuzhinkara -2 Muniyaras

12. Adirapilly -1 Muniyara

13. Vailathu Thandu -2 Muniyaras

14. Erappanpara -3 Muniyaras

15. One rock-cut cave near Irumban Road, about two miles from Nenmara

16. One Muniyara at Velathumpara

17. A dilapidated Siva temple in the Athanad Hill

18. The Muniyaras at Thodulkadu

19. One Muniyara near Adukkalappara
