Chandragiri Fort

Chandragiri Fort stands elegantly on the banks of the Chandragiri River, that marked the traditional boundary between Kerala and Thuluva kingdom. The fort was built by Sivappa Nayaka of Bednore in the 17th century CE. Chandragiri fort made of hard laterite stones, lies 150 feet (46 m) above sea level and occupies an area of about seven acres. The two sides of the Chandragiri fort are facing the sea. There are eight bastions with embrasures from which the sea route can be guarded closely. The main watch tower is facing north. There are two underground passages on the eastern and western sides of the fort.
