The Ayyippilla Asan and Ayyinippilla Asan memorial is a small Mandapam situated at Kovalam. Ayyipilla Asan and his brother Ayynipilla Asan, two maestros of Malayalam literature, made an immense contribution to the development of Malayalam literature. Ayyipilla Asan is the author of 'Ramakathapattu', a classical work in old Malayalam. The 'Mavarathampattu' another work in old Malayalam is credited to his brother Ayyinipilla Asan. The small shrine, which has no particular idol in the srikovil, has been turned into the memorial of these two renowned poets of Kerala, and it was declared a protected monument in 1987 by the Department.
