Attingal Palace, located in Chirayinkeezhu Taluk, Thiruvananthapuram, is a historical palace, where women ruled for more than seven centuries. It was the seat of the Attingal Ranis, mother queen of Venad who were known as Attingal Mootha Thampuran. It witnessed several riots and wars. Now the only remaining part of the complex is a palace and associated buildings in an area of about one acre. Even though it was built in the Kerala style of architecture, some parts of the palace are also influenced by European architecture. The palace structure consists of a two-storeyed Padippura Malika, Nalukettu, Kothalam and an Ootupura. Palliara Bhagwati is enshrined on the south side of Nalukettu, facing north. Tirumarattukavu Bhagavathy Temple, Sri Krishna Temple and Siva Temple are the places of worship inside the palace complex. The palace Gopura gate, Diwan bungalow and Anapalla wall are also structures attached to the palace.
