Ariyittuvazhcha Kottaram Mattanchery, a small traditional single storeyed palace belonged to the Cochin Royal Family, was the venue of ‘Ariyittuvazhcha’ a ceremony in connection with the coronation of the new king. It is said that the Cochin Royal family, known as Perumpadappu Swaroopam, first settled in Kochi when they were forced to move out of Vanneri. Though there were many palaces at Kochi that belonged to the Perumpadappu Swaroopam, all others were lost over time except this traditional building. This traditional nalukettu consists of a nadumuttam, poomukham and a kitchen.
