The Thirurangadi Taluk office was once the Cutcherry (office where revenue duties were transacted) under the British in the Malabar region. This traditional style building with open verandas was one of the major administrative centres of the British government. The building also functioned as the headquarters of a short-lived Khilafat government during the Malabar Rebellion.
