Tipu Sulthan's Fort

Notification Year: 1991

After entering Malabar, Tipu Sulthan established his headquarters at Kozhikode. Feroke (Farookhabad) was also his seat of power for some time. Different coins were struck from Feroke during this period. It is generally believed that Tipu Sulthan built a fort at Feroke on the bank of the Chaliyar River. The hillock where the fort is situated at Paramukku, also referred to in revenue records as Kottasthalam. A well with a 12-metre diametre can be found in the compound. A disturbed, multi-chambered rock-cut cave is also remaining at the site.
