Tipu's Flagstaff

GPS Coordinates: 10° 31’ 52.3” N 76° 12’ 55.8” E

Notification Year: 1969

Sakthan Thampuran Palace and the Thrissur town had been occupied for a short period of time by Tipu Sultan of Mysore during the war in 1789. The flagstaff installed by Tipu Sultan in the middle of the fortification is now transplanted near the western gateway. A granite plaque installed by the Government of Cochin during the time of protection is still seen on the pedestal of the flagstaff.
