Muniyaras (Dolmens) are the burial monuments of the Megalithic Age. Dolmens and other Iron Age burials like Cists, Urn burials, and Menhirs are spread across the Marayoor Anjunad valley. Among these, dolmens are the predominant type and are found on almost all rocky surfaces and hillocks. A number of architectural variations can be noticed among these dolmens. The Dolmens at Thittavayal, Kovilkadavu (two sites), Kanakkayam Hill Pulaya Settlement and Kovilkadavu Market were declared protected monuments by a single notification in 2006.
