In 1884, the school started as a Kutipallikkutam in the veranda of Kottiyathu Tharavadu. Later, it was upgraded to the lower primary, upper primary and secondary sections. It started working in the present building in 1916. It is a two-storey building, built by the British in their unique style. Many of the building materials were imported from England and other European countries. This school, which is more than a century old, has a decisive place in the history of Kannur and Malabar.
